Technology vs Nature

Nature and Technology

In America today where people are so concerned with what is new and trendy in fashion or what the latest model sports car looks like. Few stop to take time to appreciate the natural beauty to world provides for free. There is a saying regarding the issue of technology, “The more you have, the more you’ll want.” We use possessions as status symbols, not as living things we need to survive. The world would be a much less discriminatory place if technology were not as prevalent as it has become. he nature of technological society is such that freedom is necessarily undermined. Mass society demands that we act in similar ways; therefore, the so-called freedom that we have is really either an illusion or just applies to superficial things. Our technology dictates that we live this way.Furthermore, we cannot separate the good parts of technology from the bad parts. They developed together. You can’t, say, take the medical advances and leave behind the power supplies that made the research possible, or the military complex that may have funded the research as a way of keeping soldiers alive. Even if you didn’t have the rest of the system buttressing the “good”, the medical advances in themselves would bring certain problems. Any large scale medical advances come with bureaucratic superstructures. An advance means more government control. The problem with all this is that technology is a more powerful force than the aspiration for freedom. We can say we want to be free, but technology is already powerful, and becomes more powerful by increments. It is like two neighbors, one rich and the other poor, trying to compromise on a demand that the poor give up his land to the rich. The rich might say, ok, only give me half of the land. Later there will be another request, and another half will be gone. Nature evolves” and “Technology advances”. When we say nature, we mean our whole planet, various organisms living in it, the sky, stars and so on. But if we look closely, Nature is nothing but an advanced technology, and each of those mentioned above are nature’s product. Nature runs on an extremely advanced technology that is out of human reach and understanding till now.
